ACS Motion Control

„ACS Motion Control” is an OEM-focused supplier of motion controller and drive solutions for high-tech systems in fields such as semiconductor manufacturing, laser processing, additive manufacturing, flat panel display manufacturing, electronic assembly, life sciences, and more. „ACS” produces systems that have unmatched precision — less than 1 nanometer, which is about the size of a single molecula.

ACS joined the Physik Instrumente Group in January 2017, when PI became a majority shareholder of „ACS Motion Control”.

Work experience

  • Started in 2016, finished in 2019.
  • Position: DSP Software Developer.

My accomplishments

  • Implemented a new product UDMhp, including writing the “main()” function.
  • Implemented precise-controlled motion of a 3-phase rotary motor, using PWM, while preventing overshoot and undershoot oscillations around target values using PID controller tuning and feed-forward control, while using 6 derivatives of the position coordinate (speed, acceleration, jerk, jounce, crackle and pop).
  • Implemented high-speed connectivity protocol between the controller and the computer that asks for motion, using Bi-directional RAM.
  • Designed and implemented motion delay technique in laser controller, that deals with delay in actual laser’s activity due to the time required to warm the laser up.
  • Designed and implemented software transistor overload protection in the CMhv product.
  • Performed research project in Sigma-Delta Modulation.
  • Performed research project with FreeBSD operating system.
  • Researched additional hardware capabilities of the TI F28379 development kit.
This video demonstrates ACS’ laser controller, which includes my implementation of the motion delay technique for preventing stitching errors.
